The much-awaited reality shows Bigg Boss Season 4 is all set to go on air from the 3rd of October. And this time the host for Bigg Boss is going to be Salman Khan! Well, this is the exciting and novel element that the show is looking to introduce this season. Audiences would be inquisitive to watch Salman Khan who has been riding high on the laurels of the movie Dabanng as the host of the show.
Will the Dabanng in Salman Khan capture the audience’s attention (who would be looking for something exciting) with his antics and pranks? Well, one would have to wait and see if Salman Khan as a host is able to deliver the goods and live up to the expectations of millions of fans!
Bigg Boss was first introduced on the 3rd of November 2006 on Sony Entertainment Television. As the concept of the show was different from the usual soaps, it struck a chord with the audiences who got to meet a bevy of celebrities through the show.
The plot of the show till now has been that 15 contestants in a house are isolated from the rest of the world. They live together and perform tasks given to them. Each week they evict two of their fellow contestants. The contestants who are nominated the most number of times face a public vote and get eliminated eventually.
In the earlier editions of the show, Arshad Warsi, the popular actor who made us laugh in movies like Munna Bhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munnabhai did a laudable job as the presenter of the show. Rahul Roy who became immensely popular with his very first film Ashiqi, was the winner of that edition of Bigg Boss.
Ragini Shetty was also a contestant who is a south actor who played the important role as big boss’s spy. The struggle of the celebrity participants to remain in the house lasted for 86 days after which Rahul Roy emerged as the winner.
The second season of the show went on air two years later on 17th August. This time the show was presented by Shilpa Shetty who made news by winning Big Brother, a popular reality show in the UK.
This time the show was aired on the Colors channel. After remaining in the house for 98 days and performing various tasks given by Bigg Boss, Ashutosh Kaushik was declared the winner of the second season.
Then came the 3rd season on 4th October 2009 which went on for 84 days with none other than the legendary Amitabh Bachchan as the presenter. Vidhu Dara Singh son of wrestler Dara Singh was the winner of this season with Pravesh Rana as the first runner up and Poonam Dhillon as the second.
The show also kept evolving with new additions like the concept of the wild card which was introduced in the last season. This gave the opportunity for the eliminated contestants to re-enter the house and participate in the show. Pravesh Rana and Vinod Kambli entered the show with the help of the wild card on 5th and 6th November respectively.
The show is a mind game where every participant tries to outwit the other through planning and deceit. The beauty of this game is that friends turn foes in no time and it is this unpredictable nature that makes it popular with audiences.
At some level, it also brings out the voyeuristic nature in all human beings to pry into the lives of celebrities and “peep” into their lives. The past episodes have shown that participants have tried their best to stay afloat till the end by camouflaging their emotions and playing tactfully to every development inside the house.
Well, how successful will the third season of this edition of Bigg Boss 4 be? Will Salman Khan match or surpass the standards set by Arshad Warsi, Shilpa Shetty, and Amitabh Bachchan in the past? Will this season bring some novel elements as compared to the previous ones? These are some of the questions that will be answered once the show goes on air.
So, sit tight and wait for Bigg Boss 4 to begin on 3rd October (every day at 9 pm). We at Wittysparks will capture the action happening inside the house through videos and updates
