Athena IT Limited, authors of the popular Microsoft Windows application “Chit Chat for Facebook” released Chit Chat for Facebook (Blackberry), a adaptation of their Windows application for the Blackberry Smartphone.
Entitled, Chit Chat for Facebook (Blackberry), the new mobile application allows users to more easily access Facebook chat.
Sporting an innovative tabbed interface, the ground breaking Blackberry messaging application is designed for the modern day man and woman whom has hundreds of Facebook friends. Typically Facebook users have many Facebook chat conversations on going at any one time, as such there is a need to be able to quickly identify messages received – and often on the move – Chit Chat for Facebook (Blackberry) solves this problem.
Designed to be both visually appealing and functional, users of this Blackberry Facebook chat application will find the interface intuitive, practical and pleasing to the eye.
Managing Director, Daniel Offer said “It’s our best Facebook chat application yet. Ever since we released the Windows version of our popular Facebook chat application we’ve been receiving correspondence asking for a version for the Blackberry Smartphone. Here it is, by popular demand!”
Chit Chat for Facebook (Blackberry) takes a unique interface approach to the Facebook instant messaging experience. Unlike conventional instant messaging applications, the main contacts window is split into three tabs -a buddy list, conversation list and unread messages list.
As one would expect, the buddy list shows Facebook contacts that are online or away. Optionally offline Facebook friends are also shown. Innovatively, the conversation list, lists contacts with whom you’ve opened an instant messenger window and lastly, unread messages lists messages that you have not yet read. The design is such that contact scrolling is kept to a minimum.
Henrik Larsson, Operations Director said “We’ve designed Chit Chat for Facebook (Blackberry) for ease and simplicity, with people with very large Facebook friend lists in mind. The application is designed such that received instant messages are easily discoverable rather than hidden in a large buddy list.”
The Blackberry Facebook application utilizes visual, audio and kinetic (vibrate) notifications to let you know with ease when messages are received. Users are able to customize which they prefer.
Throughout Chit Chat for Facebook (Blackberry) customization and preference is a constant theme. Message bubbles, fonts, colors and background wallpaper is customizable. There are hundreds of combinations of customizations that a user can apply to their instant messenger window should they choose to do so – of course, the default will work just fine.
Reported as one of the most frustrating aspects when using mobile applications is scrolling up and down large lists. To combat this, Chit Chat for Facebook (Blackberry) uses a variety of functionality. On the main list windows (conversation, unread messages and buddy list), users can make use of filtering and sorting (A-Z, Z-A and last logged in) – moreover using scroll and space bar will scroll rapidly. Moreover, on the instant message windows, users are able to scroll conversations but quickly go return to the input textbox at the bottom by pressing Alt + T.
