Entertainment Channel Star One has come up with a very interesting Reality Show “Zara NachKe Dikha“. It is a dance show on the lines of “Nach Baliye” which was being aired on Star Plus but the unique aspect of this show is that for the first time on Television we are having a Reality Show, which is a battle between the ‘sexes’.
This show features twice a week on Monday and Tuesday at 9:30 pm with the best of celebrities from the small screen. The judges of this are the cool Chunkey Pandey and the ravishing Malaika Arora Khan.
The format of this show is that there are four rounds. The first round is the “Tashan” where there is a solo dance performance by either team member. The second round is called “Hum Tum” which is a romantic dance performance by one boy and a girl. The third round is “Zara Hatke” done by two members of both the teams each and finally, the fourth round is “Jhoom Barabar Jhoom” where all the members of both the teams have to dance separately.
This show has celebrities like Gaurav Chopra, Bhaktyaar Irani, Ali Azgar, Manish Goe who compete with Rupali Ganguli, Karishma Tanna, Delnaz Paul to name a few. Delnaaz Paul is the captain of the “Kudis” team and Ali Azgar (“Kamal” of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki fame) is the captain of the “Mundas” team.
Then there is a challenging episode where the winning team can challenge the losing team regarding the dance style in which they want them to perform. In the last few episodes, we have seen dance styles like fusion, kathak, popping & locking, and contemporary dance.
It is interesting to see boys performing kathak contrary to the general notion that they cannot do traditional dance like Kathak. Watching Vikas Sethis’s performance one could say that he has proven this notion wrong to a great extent! Even girls excelled in the popping & locking style of dance done by Narayani Shastri.
This show also provides lots of mischief and ‘masala’ in terms of both boys and girls trying to prove that they are the best. Also, another interesting part is that first time in any reality show you will find child artists performing with elders and one should say that they are doing a really commendable job. It appears that this show is slowly turning out to be young and a peppy preferred by youngsters who love watching it.
Another unique aspect of this show is that there is no elimination and no audience voting. The results are based on the judge’s final verdict.
So, in the present times where a plethora of reality shows are trying to grab the audience’s attention and interest, ‘differentiation’ has emerged to be the mantra. In this light, this show, with its format and theme could score over others. However, its success would also be determined by the kind of innovative measures that it adopts in terms of getting some celebrities or new themes in the rounds.
