Shiksha.com – a complete guide for all your education needs. The idea behind launching this education portal is to guide/assist students find the right college and course. They have a team of experienced counsellors on staff and works with education agents across the globe and all their services are completely free of cost.
Being a designer and developer first my eye pops into the look and feel of the site and little disappointed they way they come up with the layout, site color schemes, design, usability etc., ofcourse they used the latest AJAX technology with tab based interface but seems they over used it and they have used all the available attractive color schemes for each section. But when it comes to usability – not much impressive in point of Font Size, arrangement of tabs, repeated sub headings and quite a lot confusion interface everywhere pagination, tabs, Drop Downs, Double Search boxes – one for particular section and the other for overall site (they would have combined both in one search box) and there are many like these. Seems to be a complete revenue generation tool for Naukri.com gussed by their placements of ads, will they really need it?.
Lets check out the services they are offering:
The site allows the students to explore Colleges by Career Option like Multimedia, Banking & Finance, Information Technology, Mass Communications, Professional Courses, Science and Engineering etc….. and even they have a chance to to explore colleges by countries like India, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, United Kingdom, United States, Germany etc. Apart from all these they even provide updated information on Education, Colleges and have a chance to join in college groups, school groups to know more about the college or school before you take a decision to join and also they students can question the Shiksha.com team or the other students via “Ask & Answer” and many other services like Events, Test Preparation, Careers, customised Alerts (SMS) on your personal mobile and more.
Over all the idea behind the approach always stands out and will be more useful and informative for students to know more about Education, Colleges and I hope this will keep our youngsters to choose the right path in their life – Good luck folks.
Well, will this be a successful social community network for students?
