Oscars and A R Rahman

Oscars have never required any introduction and this time it’s a big deal mainly for the Indians. Slumdog Millionaire has bagged 10 nominations (wow!!) with A R Rahman getting record three prestigious nominations. He has also already created waves receiving Golden Globe and BAFTA award for best musical score. This time for Oscars, he has been nominated for two categories, Music (Score) and Music (song).

A R Rahman has larger than life presence in the Indian music world and a lot of people including me have always felt he should have got an Oscar long ago. And I wish he gets it this time and mainly for the original score. With less than 48 hours left for the Oscars to unveil, I am sure a lot of Indians have got their fingers crossed. I would like to personally wish A R Rahman all the best and would like to let him know our prayers are completely with him. Please join me in wishing A R Rahman the very best for the Oscars.

  1. there are one similarity between swami vivekanda, ramanujan- they all got their fame having recognised by the western world. Indian as whole never recognised its own son of soil, Indian as a whole will not given credit to its own people unless the american or British junkies would gave the recognition. what a shame! my dearest ar rahman as always GOD BLESS YOU!
