With more and more reality shows being aired on television channels, the genre is getting novel concepts to draw the audience’s attention and get TRPs.
Ek Khiladi Ek Hasina is a show on Colors which announced its arrival with Khatron ke Khiladi starring actor Akshay Kumar. The channel has earned a fair amount of viewership following a unique bouquet of shows it has in its gamut like Balika Vadhu and Jai Sri Krishna among others.
Ek Khiladi Ek Hasina is a novel concept which has cricketers pair up with television stars in the reality show. Over the past few weeks, a few cricket stars have been eliminated and the ones who remain in the show are Harbhajan Singh, Sreesanth, Dinesh Karthik. Irfan Pathan has taged a comeback much like his return to one day internationals! Vinod Kambli went out of the show yesterday but he did win a few more fans with his dance if not with his bat! Some of the pairs include Dinesh Karthik pairs with Nigar Khar while Harbhajan Singh teams up with Mona Singh of Jassi fame in the show .
The show is an entertainer with performances that are well choreographed and executed by the stars. The performances are cheered by an enthusiastic audience and several gyrating numbers are chosen to keep the audience at the edge of their seats. An example of the same could be seen yesterday when Dinesh Karthik along with his partner, danced on the number “babooji zaraa dheere chalo” and “appadi podu” ! One would have to admit that the pair with their performance didn’t disappoint many and Karthik brought the same energy to the floor that he is synonymous with on the field !
As time goes by and as this genre evolves, one can expect experimentation in this genre which would only serve the audience better! As far as cricketers go, the show has few players in their prime and a some past their prime. It certainly does a world of good to both of them as it brings them back into the audience minds. For those on the fringes of team, shows like these not only establishes their presence in the television world, it also helps them gain popularity which could hold them in good stead during times of team selection! Either ways, it is a win-win situation for the players as they get an opportunity to play another match outside the cricket field, the only difference being shakes and thrusts replacing the bat and bowl this time !
