Advices from the greatest Entrepreneurs of all time

Business December 8, 2012 by Syeda Fatima

Riddle me this; what is it that everyone asks, everyone gets, but no one takes?

Answer: Advice.

That is the truth to our existence. Many questions, fake appreciation, and, most importantly, ditching advice from those who knew better are all a one-way road to failure.

Arrogance can kill a man, and it can kill an entrepreneur and his company in the world of money and business.

Entrepreneurs share their Best Advice

One great act any entrepreneur in the making or attempting to start can undertake; is look up to those who’ve reached where you want to be. There is no end to money-making and certainly no end to increasing knowledge and wisdom.

Now and then, a few words from your favorite businessman and innovator can take kilos of stress off your shoulder. As humans, we have an innate tendency to relate to our own, be it in status, caste creed, sex, or color.

When something comes from those who, in reality, know or have been through what you are going through, the impacts tend to be tremendous.

Steve Jobs’ Advice for Entrepreneurs:

So let’s take a moment from our busy money-making lives and learn a little something from one of the greatest the world has to offer, and get inspired. Here are few quotes from various successful businessmen and women, shedding light on the different issues one may face.

1. On understanding haters

“When you innovate, you’ve got to be prepared for everyone telling you you’re nuts.”

– Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle

Very well-articulated by Ellison, the importance of understanding your strength and insight on what’s truly a good product has to come from within; judgments made by those who don’t understand concepts are better ignored.

2. On brand building

“A brand for a company is like a reputation for a person. You earn reputation by trying to do hard things well.”

– Jeff Bezos, founder, Amazon

Bezos highlights the importance of goodwill. And the fact is it doesn’t come overnight and requires a lot of upkeep too.

3. On creating an impact

“If we want to have the biggest impact, the best way to do this is to make sure we always focus on solving the most important problems.”

– Mark Zuckerberg, founder, Facebook

The world’s youngest self-made billionaire gives his two cents on the essence of entrepreneurship- Problem-solving. Any product holds its success to how it caters to its users and satisfies their needs while eliminating problems.

4. On embracing failure

“It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might has well not have lived at all, in which case you have failed by default.”

– J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter Author

Great advice coming from true rags to riches entrepreneur, risk taking is a talent any entrepreneur holds, and it’s precisely the quantity and quality of risk that gets him anywhere in life.

Thus are the golden words from the ones who’ve been through the ups and downs and continue to do so ever so elegantly. Nothing about their achievement should be underestimated, and their advice should be taken in a blink of an eye.
