Before coming to this article, you likely have already visited a few websites this morning, perhaps Reddit or Pinterest, or maybe you watched a couple of episodes of your favorite show on Netflix. With each of those sites serving over 35 million subscribers, you would not be alone.
But what if I told you that there was a single cloud-computing service that powers these and tens of thousands of other websites? If you didn’t know that, you wouldn’t be alone there either, as our friends at Udemy have shown that 2/3rds of Americans are unaware of this service’s existence.
It’s called Amazon Web Services, and its presence has grown to 190 countries across the globe. Tens of thousands of businesses depend on AWS, as it eliminates the need for all of those servers in a large room, thereby saving money.
Udemy is an online learning marketplace where users can take educational courses in a plethora of subject matters. They’ve created an infographic to tell us more about the prevalence of AWS and why it is so important to our daily browsing.
