The Best Hobbies to Challenge Yourself With

Have some Hobbies to challenge yourself

People look for different things as a hobby. While some people enjoy the rest and relaxation a hobby can bring, others look to a hobby to challenge them a bit.

Here are some of the best hobbies you could take up if you want to challenge yourself.

Marathons

Many people love to head out for a run as a way to keep fit. Whether it is just a quick jog around their local park or something a bit longer, there are many different types of running you could try.

However, if you truly want to push yourself then you should start training for a marathon. Coming in at 26 miles (so named after a Greek soldier who ran this distance between the Battle of Marathon and Athens with news of victory), this is no easy feat for anyone and requires a lot of training and perseverance. If you reach the stage where even marathons are easy, you could try an ultramarathon which comes in at an even greater distance.

Circuit Design

If you would rather flex your brain instead of your muscles, you should try PCB design. Printed circuit boards, or PCBs, are used in nearly every piece of tech out there and someone needs to design the new ones. If you are interested in tech and how it is made, you should definitely think about giving PCB design a shot.

To get started, you will need to download a reputable PCB design software like Altium. You can design extremely simple circuits or increasingly complex ones and Altium will help you with both. Where does the challenge come in? Sometimes circuits fail due to the smallest of errors, or maybe it doesn’t fit the specifics of the brief. You might have to do some out-of-the-box thinking to make sure that the project is a success.

Learn a New Language

One of the best ways to truly challenge yourself is by learning a new language. A second language could help you move to a new country, it could help you earn a promotion at work, or it could just help you out on holiday.

If you want to up the ante even further, consider learning a language that uses a different alphabet to English such as Russian or Greek. Not only will you then have to learn the vocabulary of this new language but you will have to learn how to recognize the words as they are written too. There are many fantastic language learning apps to help you keep on top of your studies so it should not be too difficult for you to grab a bit of practice no matter where you happen to be.

Feel like a challenge? Any of these might be a great way for you to achieve some goals. Whether it is a new resolution or you are simply looking for a new way to spend your time, try one of these hobbies now.
