Every one of us is prone to stress on a day-to-day basis, but perhaps no one is more vulnerable to it than entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs constantly feel like they are scrapped for time and overworked. The result is that the life of an entrepreneur can feel unnecessarily overwhelming.
This is also why it would be helpful if you could learn how to reduce stress and anxiety, right?
Here are the top five ways to reduce stress as an entrepreneur:
1. Invest In A High-Quality Mattress
Yes, the mattress you sleep on each night can actually have a huge impact on your stress levels the next day. Not only should your mattress be extremely comfortable, but it also needs to be non-allergenic and non-toxic. Investing in a high-quality pillow would also be wise.
2. Don’t Make Every Minute About Work
Being an entrepreneur means that you will be busy, but that doesn’t mean that every single minute of your life needs to be about work. Such an approach will only cause your stress to get much worse.
This is why you should dedicate at least some of your time each day to things that you enjoy and that make you feel relaxed. Examples could include doing a personal hobby that you enjoy (hiking, photography, cooking, gardening, woodworking, etc.), doing yoga or exercise, or even playing games.
3. Take Breaks During Work
The importance of taking brief but consistent breaks during your working hours cannot be overstated. Your body and brain need to recharge and refuel after a heavy session of work. Just a five or ten-minute break every one to two hours will be life-changing when it comes to stress.
4. Stay Hydrated
There is a solid link between stress and water. The more water you drink and the more hydrated you feel, the less stress you will experience.
The reason why is simple: every single organ in your body needs water in order to properly function. This includes your brain and your heart, so without enough water, you will become a victim of dehydration and this will be devastating to your physical and mental health. Try to drink a minimum of two liters of clean water every day.
5. Set Working Hours
This may sound obvious, but have you set actual working hours for yourself? Or instead, do you work literally from the moment you wake up in the morning to when you go to bed at night?
Remember, part of your day needs to be for working and the other part needs to be for yourself. Schedule your whole day in the morning, and make sure that you set strict working hours while also keeping time in the morning and evening for relaxing and the things you enjoy doing.
