How to convert a PDF to .txt on mobile devices?

iOS Application Development Trends

Converting files to a different format can often be very helpful in several ways. This article will show you what are the benefits of converting a PDF to text files, and why you should have a PDF Converter on your mobile devices at all times!

Low memory files

Text files are well known to be very small and easy to store, upload, send, and transfer via cloud services. This is due to their nature of (most of the time) being no more than a few kilobytes. This is by far one of the simplest file formats there are.

Text files usually have little, if any, formatting. This makes them extremely good for editing files with lots of formatting. You can simply convert those PDFs to .txt in order to immediately remove any or all formatting. This causes them to take up very little place, which goes back to the first point about storing and moving files around.

Everyone can open text files

Text files have been around for a while, and that is the reason why they are so available and easy to work with. Most computers have Wordpad, Notepad, and other file editors that open text files already installed. This means that wherever you are you can always access them without having to look around for too much.

How to convert a file

If you scroll all the way up to the first paragraph, you’ll notice we linked an app in the text. This app has a very simple user interface, which makes it super easy to use. Here’s a short guide on how to do your first conversion!

Step 1: Download the app

PDF Converter Ultimate is available on iOS and Android, so feel free to choose your preferred version! Download the app to your phone or tablet and tap on the icon to open it.

When you open the app, the first thing you will see is the app’s main screen. On the top of your screen, there will be 6 different ways of importing files shown, one of them is to upload from the internal phone memory and the other 5 are the previously mentioned cloud services which you can see in the image above.

Choose the cloud service of your preference and tap on it. Once you’ve selected the cloud service, the app will ask for your login info and then for approval to open your files.

Step 3: Select which PDFs you want to convert

After entering login information the app will show you a list of PDF files available. Every PDF file you have on that cloud will be on the list, with the oldest being on the bottom and the newest files on top of the list. It is important to note that the iOS version can convert only one file at a time, while Android supports batch conversions.

Step 4: Wait for the file to be converted

PDF Converter Ultimate will send the files you selected to the Cometdocs servers for conversion. Stay connected to the internet while converting, or the conversion may be paused. All converted files will appear on the main screen below the tab with the cloud services.

Step 5: Preview and open your new file

Tap on the converted file to preview it, and if you click Open In in the bottom left corner, the app will offer you a choice of apps available to edit this file. We recommend you try Evernote or something similar for text editing.
