Technology And Medical Care: In House Nursing

Health and Healthcare March 24, 2018 by Nishitha

In an environment that’s continuously being polluted with the choices we make, people are bound to fall sick. We all know at least one person who is suffering from a chronic illness or recovering from a surgery. People suffering from such serious medical conditions are in need of constant care.

However, it is not possible for anybody to stay at a hospital for the entire duration of their recuperation process. In these situations, people look for someone who can provide them with proper medical care within the comfort of their home. So, who can help us in these situations? A nurse, of course!

Who Is A Nurse?

A nurse is a trained medical professional who is adept at performing medical procedures that help in the recovery of patients suffering from serious chronic illness or trying to get better after a surgery. When a person is admitted to a hospital, it’s a nurse’s responsibility to make sure that the patient is healing well. Similarly, an in-house nurse can provide personalized care, within the comfort of the patient’s home for faster recovery.

When Is A Nurse Needed?

  1. Post-Surgical Care: Any person who has recently undergone a surgical procedure needs relentless care to be healed completely. They require someone who can administer pain-management medication, as well as manage the diet during the time-span of the recovery. A nurse can do all this and much more! They take care of respiratory issues, fluid management in the patient’s body, and make sure that the patient is comfortable enough to convalesce easily.
  2. Care For Chronic Diseases: People who are suffering from chronic illness require a nurse to look after them. A nurse can easily provide diabetes care or help in the recovery of patients who have heart conditions and need to be treated with tender care. A nurse is also prepared to administer oxygen in cases of pulmonary conditions, acute breathing problems, or shock.
  3. Urinary Catheterization: For patients, who for some reason, are unable to walk themselves to the toilet a urinary catheter is needed for them to be able to relieve themselves. The nurse is trained to provide this care. They can help the patients with timely insertion or removal of the catheter.
  4. Vaccination and Injections: Nurses are highly proficient in administering injections and vaccination so that the patient does not feel any discomfort. We need a nurse to inject vaccine boosters into our system to protect us from harmful viruses.

How Can an In-House Nurse Help?

It becomes very difficult to make regular hospital visits when someone is suffering from a serious illness. In these cases, it proves extremely beneficial to get a nurse who can take care of the patient at home. In-house nurses can also help with old age care for elderly people who have become too weak to take care of themselves. For patients who are bed-ridden, due to a surgery or accident and cannot be taken to a medical clinic every time, an in-house nurse is the best option for proper medical care. A nurse can also be called at home to perform a regular full body checkup for people who do not find the time to visit a medical center at all times.

The advancements in the field of information technology have made it possible for patients to contact professional caregivers with just the click of a mouse. An excellently trained nurse can arrive at our doorsteps with the clanking of some keyboard keys. So, make use of this platform and let a nurse help out with medical problems within the comfort of home.
