Why do you need an email marketing tool at all?

Email marketing is quite popular amongst e-commerce businesses. Given its flexibility to efficiently promote its products & services, it makes sense to leverage email marketing. But it’s almost impossible to manually manage your email marketing campaigns, especially if you want to reach out to many people.

That’s where email marketing tools like MailerLite can come to your rescue. MailerLite is a cloud-based email marketing service that offers features beyond email campaigns, such as landing pages, website building, and pop-ups. They automate many of your email marketing tasks, boosting your overall productivity.

MailerLite is also considered affordable compared to other email marketing platforms, making it a good choice for small businesses and freelancers.

MailerLite – An Overview

MailerLite is a web-based email marketing tool that helps businesses target their web visitors, reach out to more potential customers via email & grow their mailing lists. Currently, they have a client base of around 800,000. Such a large number of clients in this competitive niche say a lot about their credibility.

MailerLite also offers a free forever plan, which allows users to access core features without time limitations, making it ideal for testing or small-scale email marketing.

But what makes MailerlLite even more worthy is its powerful features, variable & affordable pricing structure, drag & drop page builder, email automation tools, analytics & much more! MailerLite’s free plan includes access to most core features, but lacks templates and advanced automation, which are reserved for paid plans.

In this MailerLite review, we will briefly examine each of these features.

Let’s begin.

MailerLite has a rigorous account approval process for new accounts, designed to maintain high deliverability and prevent spam.

Getting Started with MailerLite: Account Setup and Onboarding

Getting started with MailerLite is refreshingly simple, making it a standout choice among email marketing platforms for both beginners and growing businesses. The platform’s onboarding process is designed to get you up and running in minutes, so you can focus on building your email campaigns and landing pages without any technical headaches.

The first step is signing up for a MailerLite account. All you need is your name, email address, and a password, no complicated forms or unnecessary details.

Once you’ve registered, you’ll receive a verification email to confirm your account. After clicking the link, you’re taken straight to the intuitive dashboard, where you can start exploring all the tools MailerLite offers.

One of the highlights of MailerLite’s onboarding is its drag and drop editor. Whether you’re creating your first email campaign, designing a landing page, or building a simple website, the drag and drop interface makes customization effortless.

You don’t need any coding experience – just pick the elements you want, arrange them to your liking, and you’re ready to go. This user-friendly approach is perfect for small businesses and anyone new to email marketing software.

MailerLite’s generous free plan is another big plus. With the free plan, you get access to most of the platform’s core features, including the drag and drop editor, email marketing automation, landing page builder, and website builder.

This means you can experiment with automation workflows, set up auto resend campaigns, and create professional-looking landing pages – all without spending a dime. As your business grows, you can easily upgrade to one of MailerLite’s paid plans for even more advanced features and higher sending limits.

Here’s how to get started with MailerLite:

  1. Sign up for a MailerLite account by entering your basic details.
  2. Verify your email address using the link sent to your inbox.
  3. Complete your account setup by adding your business name, website URL, and social media profiles.
  4. Explore the dashboard and try out the drag and drop editor for your first email campaign or landing page.
  5. Set up automation workflows and experiment with MailerLite’s marketing automation tools to streamline your email marketing.

What are the best MailerLite Features?

What are the best MailerLite Features?

MailerLite stands out for its clean user interface, which is easy to navigate and designed for a seamless user experience. Here are some of the best features that make MailerLite a strong choice for email marketing:

  • Drag and drop builder: The modular, user-friendly drag-and-drop builder allows you to quickly create and customize emails, landing pages, and forms without any coding.
  • Landing page templates: MailerLite offers a variety of pre-designed landing page templates, organized by category, to simplify the creation of landing pages for lead generation and marketing campaigns.
  • Form builder: The dedicated form builder lets you create, customize, and deploy various types of forms—including pop-ups and embedded forms—using a flexible drag-and-drop interface with extensive customization options.
  • Create embedded forms: Easily design and implement embedded forms directly within your website’s content area, making it simple to collect leads without pop-ups.
  • AI writing assistant: Available on higher-tier plans, the AI writing assistant helps generate subject lines and email content, supporting localization and overcoming writer’s block.
  • Automation workflows
  • Advanced segmentation
  • A/B testing
  • Reporting and analytics

MailerLite also provides a variety of modern and customizable email templates, but these are only available on paid plans.

1. Comprehensive Email Marketing Setup

MailerLite offers one of the most comprehensive email marketing setups. This setup allows you to manage your e-marketing campaign from one place easily. Here are some features that I liked the most during my MailerLite Review:

  • Creating email campaigns & personalized emails: You can use the drag & drop builder to create your newsletter or use the available email templates for creating email campaigns. Email templates are customizable, but note that access to them is only available on paid plans. If you wish, you can also share personalized emails with a group of people. MailerLite allows you to add dynamic content blocks, so you can display targeted content to specific segments for more relevant campaigns.
  • Build a Stronger email list: The more people hear from you, the more business you get. With MailerLite, you can create creative pop-ups, compelling viewers to sign-up for your email list.
  • Drag & Drop Builder: I just loved how easy it is to create newsletters & customize them using Drag & Drop Builder.
  • A/B testing: You can try different email layouts with different written content & graphics to perform split testing. Users can create A/B tests for their automated campaigns to determine the most effective subject lines and content, which can help improve open rates.
  • Automate your email marketing: You can create a multi-stage onboarding process for new customers using automation tools.

When creating campaigns, it’s important to preview your emails across different email clients to ensure design consistency and avoid deliverability issues. MailerLite does not have built-in tools for this, so you may need to use third party tools for advanced spam testing and rendering previews.

In short, MailerLite is a one-stop solution for all your marketing needs. However, its reporting and analytics capabilities are basic compared to some competitors.

2. Create a Subscriber list seamlessly.

MailerLite can help you create your subscriber list from scratch if you start your email marketing for your website. And if you are already using some other tool, you can easily import the contacts via CSV files.

Based on my MailerLite Review, I can say it offers an easy way to create a list for someone just starting. All you have to do is integrate MailerLite into your website & utilize the already existing pop-ups & subscriber forms.

If you prefer a non-popup option, you can create embedded forms that integrate directly into your website content using the drag-and-drop form builder. And if there are none, you can create them with MailerLite.

Automations can be triggered by multiple subscriber actions, such as joining a group, clicking a link, or completing a form, allowing for more flexible and targeted workflows.

3. Efficient Subscriber Management

MailerLite offers an excellent Subscriber Management tool. Here, you can manage each & everything from groups & segments to fields. You can either create your own fields or use the predefined ones offered by the tool.

During my MailterLite Review, I realized that using MailerLite; you can create groups by defining certain conditions. This feature can be handy once your email list grows considerably. But that’s not it. You can further classify each group into segments based on age, shopping behavior, or location.

Advanced automation features allow you to target email subscribers with personalized content based on their actions. MailerLite’s automation capabilities also include rules for sending emails to specific subscribers depending on their behavior. This list can be utilized for sending personalized emails.

4. Effective Campaign-building

This is the MailerLite feature that I loved the most! It’s very detailed, effective & efficient. After all, which e-commerce player wouldn’t like to create an effective campaign quickly?

With MailerLite, you can create standard email campaigns, newsletters or auto-responder emails. To begin with, MailerLite offers three types of Campaign Builders:

  1. Rich Text Editor: To use this feature, you should have some basic knowledge of HTML. Using Rich Text Editor, you can create simple yet effective text-based campaigns. Although text-based campaigns are not so effective on their own, they can be an excellent complementary tool.
  2. Drag & Drop Newsletter Editor: The drag and drop builder is a great tool, especially for those who have no idea about HTML coding! You can create outstanding newsletters by just picking & placing ready-made blocks available. You can also choose from a variety of pre-designed email templates to kick-start your email marketing campaigns. Email templates are available and customizable, but note that access to templates is limited to paid and advanced plan users. You can add text, modify the email layout & choose outstanding images from the library. The best part? An editor will automatically pick the images of the product mentioned, saving you a lot of trouble! And if you want to add custom images from your system, you can do that too. You can also use dynamic content to personalize your emails for different recipient segments, showing or hiding specific blocks based on user data for more targeted campaigns.
  3. HTML Editor: This is where you take your campaign building to the next level. If you are unsatisfied with the drag and drop builder & want more customization, MailerLite offers you a custom HTML editor. The custom HTML editor is available for advanced plan users. Using this editor, you can create your templates from scratch & customize them as per your liking. The only prerequisite is that you should have good HTML coding knowledge.

MailerLite – Creating a New Campaign

MailerLite also offers around 15 automation templates and a workflow editor to help users launch automated campaigns easily.

5. Email Marketing Automation

If you expect top-notch email automation features, you might feel dissatisfied with what MailerLite offers. MailerLite’s automation builder is a visual, intuitive tool that allows users to start a new workflow with just a couple of clicks and visually map the entire sequence.

Users can create automated workflows, including multi trigger workflows, to automate complex email sequences based on subscriber actions or conditions. However, MailerLite’s automation features are considered basic compared to platforms like Mailchimp and ActiveCampaign.

But that doesn’t mean its automation feature is not good. It’s just that they are not what a professional email marketer or marketing agency might expect. And that’s understandable, given the affordable price tag.

Still, after building email campaigns, you can create a systematic sequence of emails based on a workflow chart. This will ensure your emails are sent precisely as you want them. So, you can create a simple personalization email flow for your subscribers.

image 2
MailerLite – Creating a Cart Workflow

Additionally, you can create & send automated emails to your subscribers using dynamic content blocks. The tool will personalize an email & will send it to different segments you have created.

MailerLite’s automation tools are available on all plans, including the free version, making them accessible for beginners.

6. Website & Landing Page Builder

While MailerLite is not a specialized Website or Landing Page Builder, it does offer this feature, which is an excellent addition. It’s simple, it’s effective & it’s easy to use. If you do not have a website, you can create one using MailerLite.

MailerLite provides a variety of landing page templates, organized by industry and purpose, to help users quickly create professional landing pages for lead generation and marketing campaigns.

However, pre-designed templates are only available to paid users, free plan users cannot access these templates unless they upgrade. Additionally, publishing landing pages or websites on a custom domain requires upgrading to a paid plan.

If you already own a website, you can create Landing Pages to drive more traffic to your website.

MailerLite Landing Page Builder

MailerLite also allows users to sell digital products, such as ebooks or courses, directly through their landing pages or websites, with integrations to payment processors like Stripe. Free plan users are restricted from publishing on a custom domain and from using pre-designed templates unless they upgrade to a paid plan.

So all said and done, the website & Landing Page Builder from MailerLite is very effective. I was surprised with this full-featured website builder that can be used to create e-commerce websites to accept payments.

In short, the website builder is an excellent addition to the already feature-loaded MailerLite.

7. Third-party integration

You can integrate a lot of CMS systems & eCommerce Plugins with MailerLite. MailerLite supports integration with external tools like Zapier and webhooks to expand automation capabilities.

Some of the most utilized integrations are Shopify, WooCommerce, & MailerLite WordPress plugins. All these plugins can be easily integrated via Zapier.

Third party tools can also be used for advanced automation and integrations, such as using webhooks or connecting with eCommerce platforms. However, it’s important to note that MailerLite’s integration options are somewhat limited compared to other platforms, which may be a consideration for users needing extensive connectivity.

These integrations can significantly boost your website’s overall performance & boost your sales.

These are only some of the features of MailerLite that I described in this MailerLite Review. This tool has much more stores for its users. Now let’s take a look at its pricing structure.

What is the MailerLite pricing structure?

The best way to get started with MailerLite is to use the free plan. The reason is that you can access almost every feature with the free plan. The free plan allows up to three users, making it suitable for small teams or individual users. You can use it for up to 1,000 subscribers & 12,000 emails a year. So that’s enough, at least for the starters and testing.

You can move towards paid plans if you feel satisfied with the results. And there is a surprise for you here too. Unlike a lot of big names, MailerLite does not rip you off.

They offer two plans, Growing Business & Advanced. The Growing Business plan offers unlimited monthly emails and is ideal for expanding businesses, providing features like landing page creation, automation, and integrations. The Advanced plan provides additional features and starts at approximately $21 per month for up to 1,000 subscribers.

Advanced plan users have access to exclusive features such as the HTML email editor, enhanced automation workflows, and the ability to embed social media posts directly into emails. Pricing is dynamic & based on the number of subscribers. For large enterprises with extensive email lists and complex requirements, custom pricing is available, offering tailored solutions.

Discounts are available for yearly contracts with MailerLite, making it even more affordable for long-term users.

How is MailerLite Support?

MailerLite offers one of the best support experiences in the industry, but there are some important limitations to note. Free plan users receive personal support for only 14 days after signing up; after this period, an upgrade is required to continue receiving support. MailerLite does not offer phone support at any level, which may be a drawback for users who prefer quick fixes via phone.

The customer success team and MailerLite’s support team are available to assist with onboarding and troubleshooting, ensuring users get guidance when needed. However, live chat support is only available for users on paid plans- specifically, those on the Advanced plan, while Growing Business users have 24/7 email support. Free users can only access email support for the first 14 days.

For self-service help, the knowledge base and MailerLite Academy provide comprehensive resources and tutorials. Overall, MailerLite’s customer support is generally described as fast, reliable, and staffed by agents knowledgeable about email marketing.
