1. The Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area
When you imagine a vast wilderness full of wonder, this is it comes to life. The Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area covers over 10,000 acres and spans two entire state parks.
You can spend weeks taking in everything it has to offer from the gorgeous Middle Saluda River in Jones Gap State Park to the stunning scenic view on top of Bald Rock surrounding the South Carolina Mountains.
Venture far enough and you’ll even find Symmes Chapel, an open-air sanctuary at the very top of Standing Stone Mountain.
2. Lake Jocassee and Lake Keowee
Whether you’re into boating, canoeing, kayaking, or camping, Lake Jocassee and Lake Keowee are staples in South Carolina. You can take it slow and row among the beautiful blue waters, taking in the scenery, or you can try your hand at fishing.
Stop by the Jocassee Outdoor Center for boat rentals, camping gear, and great company.
3. Falls Park on the Reedy
If you thought that downtown meant being stuck in a concrete jungle with no escape, think again. Falls Park is a nature lover’s paradise. If you want to experience beautiful waterfalls, a stunning observation, and a suspension bridge, many different plants and flowers, and a walking trail, come to Falls Park and get ready to explore.
It’s a short walk from the city, so you can get back home fast after a nice lunch picnic or an afternoon stroll.
4. GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail
Swamps? Rabbits? Segway tours? This trail has everything you could ever ask for in a great location. The trail connects from Downtown Greenville and treks past Furman University. On your journey, you’ll encounter walking and biking trails, lovely landscapes, and even the Swamp Rabbit brewery.
The trails aren’t too difficult, so feel free to bring the family and pets! Taking your dog on a long hike on one of these amazing trails would be a great way to properly exercise with your pet and enjoy your journey to the fullest.
